At the moment, Bárbara is working at INL as a Research Fellow in the Nanofabrication, Optoelectronics and Energy Applications (NOA) group. Her work is based on the heterojunction formation and advanced interface analysis of kesterite-based solar cells.

She holds a Master's in Micro and Nanotechnology Engineering from the NOVA University of Lisbon. During her master's, she had the opportunity to carry out an internship in a research group, where she worked with conventional microfluidics and contributed to two paper publications. Her master's thesis was carried out at KU Leuven, where she nanostructured gold electrodes to apply in electrochemical biosensors.
