PhD Fellowship Opportunities

Collaborative Research Project INL is proud to be part of the AIM PhD Program, in which we partner with INESC-MN, INESC-ID, ITQB Nova, Institute for Bioengineering and Biosciences, and Research Institute for Medicines and Pharmaceutical Sciences to provide interdisciplinary advanced training. The doctoral degrees are awarded by the Universidade de Lisboa and the Universidade Nova de Lisboa, dependent on the collaboration partner. The research will take place in the laboratories of the team institutions in Lisbon and at INL, Braga, with stays in Portuguese and International Associate Partner Laboratories in Academia and Industry. KET4CleanProduction Kick-Off Meeting

KET4CleanProduction Kick-Off Meeting

KET4CleanProduction is a three-year project funded under the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme. The project kicked-off January 22-23 in Stuttgart, Germany, under the coordination of Steinbeis 2i GmbH in partnership with 12 premier KET Technology Centers and 7 partners of the Enterprise Europe Network from 18 different European countries. INL is part of one of this networks of premier KET Technology Centers aiming at promoting the access of manufacturing SMEs to advanced manufacturing technologies and related key enabling technologies (KET) towards a resource and energy efficiency. The KET4CleanProduction consortium has already started working on the creation of an open innovation ecosystem with a one-stop-shop for access to innovative services for SME through a network of superior KET Technology Centres providing access to clean production technologies.

Open Application for CÓDIGOMAIS Innovation Prize

INL, in the framework of the project CÓDIGOMÁIS, is looking for an innovative project in the field of Health and Ageing to support, accelerate and launch it to the market. The application period for the CÓDIGOMÁIS Innovation Prize runs from 19th December 2017 until 25th January 2018 and any person or entity in the POCTEP region (North of Portugal and Galicia) can submit ideas and projects in the area of health and ageing through the CÓDIGOMÁIS website. The best project will be selected by the jury formed by representatives of the project’s beneficiaries, representatives of the responsible entities for health management in the POCTEP region, and renowned experts in the areas of health and ageing. The team selected will benefit from a prize of fifty thousand euros (€50,000.00) in-kind contribution to be used in services related with the implementation of the Project, consisting of Mentoring support, marketplace (website and catalogue/brochure), financial support and consultancy. INL awarded by CCDR-N in Science, Innovations and Technology

The CCDR-N distinguished the INL with an award – Regional Emblem – in the area of Science, Innovation and Technology, in the “O Norte Somos Nós” ceremony. These Regional Emblems are projects highlighted by the CCDR-N, having been distinguished by the awarding of prizes or by investments in other European regions. The “O Norte Somos Nós” initiative was launched by CCDR-N – the authority of the operational program ‘ON.2 – “O Novo Norte”, which ended on March 31. The awards were based on more than six thousand projects of regional merit, with 21 finalists identified, three for each of the seven categories defined: Competitiveness, Innovation, Research, Inclusion, Qualification, Sustainability and Heritage.

ISO 9001:2015 Certifies high standard of INL

The Quality Management System of the INL – International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory received the ISO 9001: 2015 certification in an official ceremony held at INL premises, last Friday, November 24th. Lars Montelius, INL Director-General, stated that the “International certification represents the guarantor of the quality of our work for our partners and potential partners”. This certification was the confirmation of INL’s high standards of quality and recognition of the effort and commitment of all its employees to obtain exceptional results, reflecting the organization’s dedication to prioritizing the quality of its services, through a constant improvement of its internal processes.

NanoGateway Project Kick-Off

NanoGateway Project Kick-Off

The NanoGateway Project, a €1.013.028 pluri-regional project led by INL and funded by the INTERREG V-A España-Portugal (POCTEP) held its first project meeting jointly with the presence of regional representatives at INL on October 20th. The project aims at implementing a pluri-regional strategy and action plan to explore and unlock the potential of nanotechnology in the generation of smart growth and well-being by developing a new collaborative approach among all actors of innovation value chains. INL, as Coordinator of the project together with the support of regional representatives and institutions, intends to strengthen the capacity to develop excellence in R & I and collaborative RTD projects on nanotechnology-based solutions and products in benefit of the industry and society. INL and key stakeholders from the eight Spanish and Portuguese Cross-Border regions will work together on the establishment of a network in the area of nanotechnology, setting the pillars for excellent research and deployment of nanotechnologies, reinforcing the competitiveness of the industry and thus, the global competitiveness of the POCTEP regions. NMP-REG partners discuss policies to include nanotech in manufacturing

Norte Regional Coordination and Development Commission (CCDR-N) and the INL – International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory organized the third NMP-REG regional stakeholder group meeting, on 19th September, at the premises of CCDR-N, in Porto (Portugal). This meeting gathered stakeholders from the regional scientific and technological system, clusters and competitiveness poles and entities from the public sector. The main focus of the meeting was the identification and discussion on potential policy improvements in order to increase NMP adoption by manufacturing in Norte Region. Stakeholders took a very active role in this meeting and provided many inputs. This stakeholder meeting also aimed to discuss the project state of the art.

EPPN Project Kick-off

EPPN Project Kick-off

EPPN, the European Pilot Production Network, and Innovation Hubs is a €1M CSA initiative, funded by the European Union that kicked off on 1 June 2017. Four partners from across Europe – INL, Cambridge Nanomaterials Technology (CNT), NANOfutures and Onvega – are working together on the establishment of a solid and quality network of European pilot production pilot facilities in the area of nanotechnology and advanced materials to support pilot production, setting the pillars to the rapid deployment of new technology and, ultimately, reinforcing the creation of new businesses.
