Thomas Yager

Postdoctoral Researcher

Sotomayor Research Group

Tom Yager is a researcher in the Sotomayor Nanophononics Research Group at INL. He has over 15 years of experience designing, fabricating and characterising nano-electronic and nano-photonic devices across the UK, Sweden, Latvia and Portugal. His current work explores the programmability of nano-optomechanical technology and its applications for neuromorphic computation (NEUROPIC).

Tom graduated from Royal Holloway, University of London, in 2009 with an MSci in Physics before moving to Sweden as a doctoral researcher at Chalmers University of Technology. His doctoral thesis investigated Epitaxial Graphene Technology for Quantum Metrology. Since graduating, he has worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher and Leading Researcher at Riga Technical University and the Institute of Solid State Physics, University of Latvia, contributing to fundamental and industrial research projects on nanoscale semiconductor materials, optoelectronics, biomedicine and quantum.
