Society
INL is committed to bringing nanoscience and nanotechnology to society, by developing science activities, fostering community engagement, and advancing scientific knowledge in accessible and enriching ways. The research and innovation performed at INL are done and transferred responsibly to address concerns that align with the Sustainable Development Goals.
This knowledge transfer is done at many levels, including Open Days, laboratory visits for University undergraduate students, and ‘Researchers at Schools’ activities which foster direct interaction between researchers and the younger generation.
Special programmes include Mission NERD, which uses science outreach to smoothen stereotypes and promote a more inclusive society, and Scale Travels, which brings the A in STEAM to a new level of creativity, combining arts with science and technology.
