Carlos Damián
Project Associate
Dr. C. Damián Rodríguez Fernández is a postdoctoral research associate in both the Paulo Ferreira's group at INL and the Mesturas group from the Universidade da Coruña (Galicia, Spain). His current research is focused on the characterization of the interfacial structure of Ionic Liquids and electrodes by means of electronic spectrocopies and ab initio simulations. He aims to find new mechanisms to improve battery efficiency through the modeling of the electrolyte-interface regions in Ionic Liquids, including Electric Double Layers (EDLs) on the electrolyte side and solid Electrode-Electrolyte Interphases (EEI) on the electrode side.
Previously, he obtained his PhD from the Universidade de Santiago de Compostela (Galicia, Spain) under the supervision of Prof. Elena López Lago and Prof. Luis M. Varela, with an experimental and computational thesis focused on the impact that the molecular structure of Ionic Liquids has on their linear and nonlinear optical responses.During the last two years, he occupied a position of substitute lecturer in the Universidade da Coruña and he is currently part of the Action Committee of the Young Minds Programme of the European Physical Society.
