António Costa
Staff Researcher
António Costa is a Staff Researcher in the Theory of Quantum Nanostructures group. The main focus of his research work at INL lies in the properties of spin and charge excitations in low-dimensional materials and heterostructures. He employs a mix of computational and analytical methods to help elucidate the relationship between the electronic structure of a system and its response to applied electromagnetic fields.
António holds a PhD in Physics from Universidade Federal Fluminense (Niterói, RJ, Brazil, 1998). He has spent one year (2001) as a post-doc in the Centre for Quantum Computation of the University of Oxford, one year as a visiting researcher at the University of California Irvine (2010), and one year (2017-2018) as a visiting researcher at the Instituto de Telecomunicações (Lisboa). He has been an Associate Professor at Universidade Federal Fluminense from 2006 to 2018.
