João Almeida Rodrigues
Research Engineer
João Rodrigues is a Research Engineer at INL's Technology Engineering Group (TEG). With a focus on system engineering, the TEG enhances INL's R&D&I capabilities, translating concepts into nanotechnology-based products and services through interdisciplinary collaboration. João's role within the TEG involves developing and integrating machine learning algorithms, particularly for computer vision and time series analysis.
He graduated in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Coimbra, with a focus on optical instrumentation and systems engineering. His research journey started at LIBPhys-UNL's Biosignals group, pursuing a PhD in Biomedical Engineering. His research interests and expertise lies in applying machine learning to time series data, especially biosignals. João's contributions include over 30 publications in journals, conferences, and book chapters, in the fields of biosignals analysis, machine learning, and occupational health.
Beyond academia, João's horizons expanded through a Fulbright scholarship at the Time Series Lab, University of California Riverside, and a Hanse-Wissenschaftskolleg scholarship at the Cognitive Systems Lab, University of Bremen.
