Pedro Silva
Scientific Associate
Pedro Silva is a Research Fellow at INL, with a strong background and experience in the interdisciplinary fields of bioengineering, nanotechnology, food packaging, and sustainable food solutions. At INL, he is currently focused on research and design of new solutions for efficient and sustainable applications in food processing and packaging.
He holds an Integrated Master's in Biological Engineering, with a focus on Chemical & Food Technology, and a Ph.D. in Bioengineering with a focus on Food Engineering. It centered on the development of innovative solutions for the valorization of bioactives derived from food waste, utilizing nanoencapsulation techniques to produce functional food ingredients. He has 7+ years of experience in research in the field of food science and engineering, namely in nanotechnology, sustainable food solutions, and advanced food processing.
